Youth Day Camps
Day Camp is the place for fun and adventure. It provides vital educational experiences for children to learn more about their diabetes. The Day Camp site has playing fields, play ground equipment and indoor activities such as arts and crafts, group games and education. Staffing includes nurses, dietitians and caring counselors who are devoted to providing a safe environment.
Age Group: Youth, ages 4 to 12.
Dates:
San Jose: Monday, June 27, 2005 to Friday, July 1, 2005.
Sacramento: Saturday, May 14, 2005 and Saturday, November 12, 2005.
Hillblom – Bakersfield: Spring 2005, TBA.
Hillblom – Fresno: Spring 2005, TBA.
Hillblom – Stockton: Spring 2005, TBA.
Fee: Free for Sacramento and Hillblom Day Camps. $90 for San Jose Day Camp.
Requirements: Prior to the start of camp, each camper needs to have completed the Camper Application Package, which will be sent out upon receipt of the Registration Form.
Transportation: No transportation provided.
Program Highlights: Day campers enter camp with a sense of anticipation, and return home in the afternoon full of self-confidence and fun. The program is designed to provide continuous development for the camper who has been to camp before or for the newly diagnosed. Most importantly, Day Camp is one of the few places where children have the opportunity for group interaction with other children their own age, who also have diabetes. Day Camp runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Age appropriate activities include sports, crafts, ice-skating, as well as diabetes education.
Weekend Family Camps
Family camp is a three-day weekend of updated information about diabetes, traditional camp activities, plus an opportunity to meet other families who can share and understand your experiences.
Age Group: All ages.

Session Details:
Hillblom I and II, at Sequoia Lake
Located outside of Kings Canyon National Park at YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake - 50 miles East of Fresno. Program facilities include a multi-purpose playing field, a recreation lodge, archery range, covered arts and craft building, climbing wall, swimming pool and many wonderful walking trails. Families will have exciting adventures plus the opportunity to learn more about diabetes and others living with diabetes. The Hillblom Family Camp is the perfect location to make learning fun. This camp of dedicated to the memory of Larry L. Hillblom and his commitment to help people with diabetes and supporting research to find a cure.
Fee: $10 per person

Session I - Friday, April 22, 2005 to Sunday, April 24, 2005
Session II - Friday, September 9, 2005 to Sunday, September 11, 2005.
Session Highlights: Experience family fun through nature hikes to the Giant Sequoia trees, creating arts and crafts, fishing, and learn canoeing on Sequoia Lake. Group and individual activities are scheduled throughout the day and participants may choose from these events and activities. Some basic concepts in diabetes management and control are presented. Evening campfire programs include group singing, skits, and other fun activities.
Santa Cruz, in the Santa Cruz Mountains
Santa Cruz Family Camp is located just off of scenic route highway 9 in the beautiful redwood forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Join families from all over California for a weekend of fun, educational activities and programs. Develop skill with the ancient sport of archery, rock climb up a wall, and be creative with arts and crafts. Families will have exciting adventures plus the opportunity to learn more about diabetes and others living with diabetes. This is an experience that will last a lifetime.
Fee: $65 per person
Date: Friday, May 20, 2005 to Sunday, May 22, 2005.

Lake Tahoe, at South Lake Tahoe
Located on the southern shores of Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe Family Camp is surrounded with acres of forested mountain terrain and beautiful sandy beaches. Families can explore the hiking trails through the forest, swim, boat or just relax by the lake, plus the opportunity to learn more about diabetes and other families living with diabetes.
Fee: $65 per person
