I was up most of the night with Ashley. She was vomiting & very weak. I was sure she
had the flu again. In the morning she was breathing heavy. I called the doctors office &
explained in detail what was going on to a nurse. It was a Saturday & none of the doctors
were in the office. She told me it sounded like she was dehydrated from vomiting. She
said to give her a tablespoon of Gatorade every five minutes until I was sure she would
keep it down. Then to continue to let her sip it. I did this not knowing it was the worst thing for her at the time. After an hour she was panting. She
started to moan & her eyes kept rolling back. I immediately called the nurse back &
started to tell her what was going on. She actually started to blow me off. Like I was
overreacting. By this time I was almost frantic. I knew something bad was going on. I
should have just followed my instincts & took her to the emergency room. But, she
actually had me questioning myself. I wondered if I was overreacting. At this point I
kind of blew a gasket. I started to yell at the nurse. I put the phone up to my daughters
mouth. When she actually heard her she became concerned. She had me time her
respiration's. They were double what they should have been. Then a Nurse practitioner happened to walk by the nurse. So the nurse started to explain what was
going on. I could hear the Nurse practitioner say,"You told her to give her what?" Then he was on the phone. He told me to get her in the
car & drive right there.
